MEDFORD, Ore. – Behind six scoreless innings from southpaw Jordan Ragan, the Medford Rogues held off the Yuba City Bears 8-2 on Fire Prevention Night at Harry & David Field.

“Yesterday, it took us a while to find the strike zone,” said Rogues Manager Josh Hogan. “Today, I think we played a lot more controlled.”

Ragan (Cal State-Bakersfield) kept the Bears off-balanced, scattering three hits while striking out two batters.

The Rogues got hot at the plate in the 3rd inning when Johnny DeLaCruz (Louisiana-Monroe) had a one out single. Josh Berman (Clark CC) walked and both DeLaCruz and Berman advanced on a wild pitch. Jake Hellweg (Bethune Cookman) hit a sacrifice fly to drive in DeLaCruz and advance Berman.

Jake Gozzo (Orange Coast CC) and Dante Gutierrez (Univ. of San Diego) got on base for Scotty Wright (Colorado Christian) who drove in two runs with a double. The Rogues scored four runs in the inning.

DeLaCruz went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI. Gozzo scored two runs and was walked three times.

Yuba City committed five errors and drops to 0-2 in their first Great West League campaign. For the entire box score: CLICK HERE.
