Heat Sweep Rogues at Home

The Rogues will begin a seven-game road trip down in Marysville, CA to take on the Yuba City Bears.

MEDFORD, Ore. -- The Medford Rogues jumped out early on Sunday night but Chico answered in a big way, finishing off a three-game series with a 16-7 win at Harry & David Field.

The Rogues (3-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Chico (5-1) answered in the top of the 2nd inning. The Heat sent 19 men to the plate in the ten hit, 13 run inning. Chico would ride the momentum and hand the Rogues their first sweep at home in club history. With the loss, the Rogues fall to .500 on the year.

Last night’s starting pitcher for the Heat, Zach Sherman, was plugged in as the Designated Hitter in the bottom of the order. Sherman registered four hits, two doubles, two runs and five RBI on the night.

Jake Hellweg (Bethune Cookman) went 2-5 with an RBI single and a run scored for the Rogues. Connor Lowrie (Blackhawk JC) went 2-5 and hit a ball off the wall in left-center field for a triple. Leadoff man Jayden Hanna (Lane CC) reached three times and had an RBI.

Jake Gozzo (Orange Coast College) had a double, an RBI single, and scored twice. Scotty Wright (Colorado Christian) extends his hitting streak to five games with a single in the bottom of the 5th inning. Ryan Carle (Pacific University) was named Player of the Game, pitching three innings and scattering three hits.

The Rogues will begin a seven-game road trip down in Marysville, CA to take on the Yuba City Bears in a four game series. The Rogues will then travel a little further south to take on the Lincoln Potters in a three-game series, before returning back to Harry & David Field on June 13th to take on the Portland Pickles.
