MEDFORD, Ore. – The roster for the 2017 Great West League All-Star team was announced, highlighted by seven Medford Rogues players and three Rogues coaches.

The announcement was made today by GWL Commissioner Ken Wilson. Four position players, three pitchers, and the entire Rogues coaching staff were selected to the team.

Catcher Alex Isola (Utah), infielders Clay Valenzuela-Reece (Campbellsville) and Davis Delorefice (Utah), and outfielder Johnny DeLaCruz (Louisiana-Monroe) will represent the Rogues at the plate and in the field.

Isola (.355/.436/.558) leads the Rogues in home runs (6) and RBI (43). “It feels pretty good to get recognized for all the hard work and grind and sweat you put into playing in this summer league. You play every day, and you just want to give your best effort out there all the time… It feels good to get some results and get some recognition,” says Isola.

Valenzuela-Reece (.373/.439/.400) leads the team in batting average and hits (56), and has hit safely in his last 18 consecutive games, a Rogues team record.

Rogues Pitchers Dylan Pearce (Oregon State), Taylor Frost (Southern Idaho), and Chris Painter (Tennessee Wesleyan) will take the mound for the All-Star team.

Pearce leads the team in strikeouts (38) and sports a 2.74 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 39.1 innings pitched. “I feel honored. It’s a huge opportunity for me… I’m really happy to make the team and to play with some of my guys in this big event,” says Pearce.

Frost holds the Rogues team record for career saves (8) and has a 0.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.

Manager Josh Hogan will be at the helm for the 2017 GWL All-Star team, and he will be joined in the dugout by his coaching staff of Jeff Lyle and Christian Coronado. “Lyle and ‘Nado(Coronado), they deserve it. I think of them as the best coaches in the league… (the Rogues All-Star selections) definitely deserved a spot. I expect them to go out and represent the Rogues, wear the uniform with pride and just have fun out there… It will be exciting to go out there and watch them play. Not a lot of coaching in the all-star, I’m just looking forward to watching them showcase their talents, play hard, and have fun, like they usually do,” says Coach Hogan.

The All-Star Game will be held on Monday, July 24th at Nettleton Stadium in Chico, CA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.

In a new format this year, the 2017 GWL All-Stars will face off against the host stadium’s team, the Chico Heat.
