MEDFORD, Ore. – The Medford Rogues (33-14) defeated the Yuba City Bears (10-38) 9-5 on Saturday night at Harry & David Field on Paint the Park Pink Night, completing the three-game series sweep.

The ballpark, field, fans, and players were all adorned in pink to support breast cancer survivors.

The Rogues wore special pink jerseys, which were auctioned off during the game to benefit the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center and breast cancer research. The ballpark was lined with pink streamers and balloons, and the foul lines and bases were also sprayed hot pink.

Davis Delorefice (Utah) got the scoring started for the Rogues in the second inning. Jake Gozzo (Orange Coast) walked to lead off the third, and Caleb Smith (Linn Benton CC) hit a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third for Delorefice. Delorefice hit a two-RBI single up the middle to put the Rogues up 2-1.

Eric Yang (UC Santa Barbara) hit an RBI double later in the inning, scoring Delorefice. Yang has hit a double in his last five games.

Gozzo singled to lead off the fourth, and then Smith hit his second double of the day, this one pulled down the left field line, to score Gozzo.

Jake Hellweg (Bethune Cookman) and Connor Lowrie (Blackhawk JC) hit back-to-back singles in the fifth. Hellweg scored on a wild pitch before Scotty Wright (Colorado Christian) doubled to the gap in right-center field, which scored Lowrie.

Gozzo hit a single, which sent Wright to third. While the next batter, Smith, was up at the plate Gozzo stumbled while taking off for second base. While the Bears tried running down a pickled Gozzo, Wright took off for home. By the time the Bears infielders noticed Wright, he was already crossing home plate. On the confusion, Gozzo took second.

Lowrie hit an RBI double in sixth inning, scoring Dante Gutierrez (University of San Diego). The double by Lowrie was the team’s 94th of the year, setting a new Rogues record for most doubles in a season.

Starting pitcher Peyton Fuller went five innings, he struck out five gave up one run on just two hits. He earned his third win of the year.

Taylor Frost pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win and the series sweep over the Bears.
