Late Inning Rally Propels Rogues Over Pickles

Portland, Oregon - The Medford Rogues claimed an 8-5 victory over the Portland Pickles in game one of a three game series at Walker Stadium in Portland. The win leaves Medford’s record at 9-4 and the Pickles fall to 4-9.

Defensively, Kyle Robeniol earned the start for the Rogues. After a rocky first inning, with the Pickles scoring three runs, Robeniol settled into a rhythm, striking out seven. He nows has a 2.25 ERA. CJ Eytel pitched the final two innings of the game, gave up one run on one hit, struckout one and walked one batter. Eytel’s ERA now sits at 1.80.

The Pickles got off to an early start in the first inning, plating three runs. The Rogues were able to strike back in the third, scoring three of their own, tying the ballgame. Medford took the lead in the fifth, off an RBI single by Parker Kelly. The game was tied up again in the seventh and heading into the ninth, the Rogues and Pickles were tied at 5. In the top of the ninth, the Rogues brought in three runs off the bats of Spencer Steer and Johnny DeLaCruz. Medford pitching kept the Pickles at bay in the bottom of the ninth inning, completing the comeback.

The Rogues were strong at the plate, led by Spencer Steer who went two-for-four, with two RBIs and one run. Steer now is batting .500. Johnny DeLaCruz went two-for-four with two RBIs, improving his batting average to .227. Designated hitter, Parker Kelly, was two-for-four at the plate with an RBI and run, now with a .286 batting average.
The Rogues and Pickles face off again tomorrow night for game two at Walker Stadium at 7:05pm.
