Rogues Fall To Pickles in Game Two

On a cloudy day at Walker Stadium in Portland, the Rogues and Pickles met for game two. After an early start by the Pickles, the Rogues were unable to catchup and fell 13-1. The Rogues’ record now sits at 9-5 and the Pickles at 5-9.

Defensively, Parker Kelly earned the start for the Rogues. After a solid first inning with two strikeouts, Kelly gave up 5 runs in the second inning off of four hits, and walked three batters. Kelly was pulled in the second with one out to go and Chris Painter came in relief. Painter pitched 1.2 innings, gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out one. Jamie Flynn pitched 2.2 innings after Painter and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits, walking 2 but striking out three. Will Martel pitched the eighth, struck out two and gave up one run. Connor Lowrie finished in the ninth, striking out the side, with a 0.00 ERA.

The Pickles got off to an early start in the second inning, plating 5 runs off of four hits. The Rogues struck back in the fourth with an RBI single by Ian Nowack, in what would be the only run of the game for Medford. Portland kept the scoring going with two more in the fourth, three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth. Bats were hot tonight for the Pickles, scoring 13 runs on 15 hits.

At the plate, Ian Nowack went 1-for-3 with an RBI, bringing in the only run of the game for the Rogues, improving his batting average to .313. Braden Stutzman went 1-for-1 after being walked three times, now with a .200 batting average.

The Rogues and Pickles face off again tomorrow night for the series series at Walker Stadium at 7:05pm.
