MEDFORD, Or -- The Medford Rogues have signed Ryan Gamboa from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Playing both catcher and first base, Gamboa amassed a fielding percentage of .976 with just one error in the 2019 season. On offense, Gamboa batted .294 with 17 plate appearances, including 3 RBIs and a double.

Before the Academy of Art, Gamboa played in 34 games for Butte College, where he earned 11 RBIs and scored 18 runs in 110 at-bats. He also played briefly for the Chico Heat of the Great West League in 2018. Gamboa was teammates with Rogues outfielder Lane Pritchard on the Butte College baseball team, and the two also graduated from Red Bluff High School.

Gamboa’s best sports moment is when he hit two home runs in a single game at Butte College. He roots for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. Gamboa also enjoys prime rib, country music, and his favorite movie is The Greatest Snowman. When he isn’t on the field, Gamboa can usually be found golfing or fishing. His life hero is American singer and actor, Frankie Valli.
