Rogues Beat Crushers in Game Two

The Medford Rogues took game two over the Lodi Crushers, 13-9 at Harry and David Field. The Rogues got on the board first and were able to keep the Crushers at bay until the ninth. The Rogues now have the best start in history with a 14-5 record, 2nd overall in the Great West League.


The Rogues struck first with a leadoff triple by Derron Davis in the first inning. Jared Denning also scored that inning off an error and the Rogues led 2-0. Medford plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth, extending their lead over Lodi, 9-0. Lodi scoring opened up in a 6-run seventh inning and cut their deficit to 3 runs. In the seventh inning, The Rogues plated on more run off an RBI by Spencer Steer. Medford scored three more runs in the bottom of the eighth for insurance runs and were able to hold off the Crushers in the ninth finishing the game over Lodi, 13-9.


Austin Crowson pitched 5.1 hitless innings for the Rogues. and struck out two and walked two batters. He kept the Crushers from scoring while he was on the mound and finished the night with a 1.26 ERA. Jamie Flynn, Bryon Foust, Chris Painter, Trenton Stoltz, CJ Eytel and Connor Lowrie came in for relief for Medford, collecitvely giving up 9 runs on 8 hits, 4 of those were earned. 


At the plate, Derron Davis went 2-for-3 scoring three runs and improving his average to .339. Cam Russ also went 2-for-3 scoring a run also, with a .368 batting average. Braden Stutzman, pinch hitting in the bottom of the eighth hit a triple to right-center field bringing in three runs, extending the Rogues lead. 


Medford and Lodi meet again tomorrow night at 6:35pm for game three as the Rogues go for the sweep at Harry and David Field. It is also $2 Tuesday with $2 beers and Pepsi products.
