ROGUES WIN GAME ONE OF GWL PLAYOFFS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 12, 2016

Chico, California - The Medford Rogues and Chico Heat faced off at Nettleton Stadium in Chico for game one of the Great West League Championship series. The Rogues started scoring early with 7 runs through the first three innings. Chico scored four runs but Medford had more late inning runs to hold on to the 12-4 win over the Heat.

Jayden Hanna scored the first run of the game for the Rogues in the first inning. Hanna and Cam Russ both had RBI singles in the second inning to put Medford up 3-0 after two innings. Then the Rogues plated four runs in the third inning off of a sacrifice fly by Parker Kelly, RBI single by Derron Davis and errors committed by the Heat. Connor Lowrie scored the eighth run of the game off a RBI single by Bryon Foust to put the Rogues ahead, 8-0. Chico scored four runs between the sixth and eighth innings but when Medford plated four more runs in the top of the ninth, it proved to be too much for the Heat.

Kade Wagner earned the start for the Rogues and went 8 strong innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and kept the Heat at bay for most of the game. Dylan Pearce pitched the ninth and struck out two, and had a scoreless and hitless ninth.

At the plate, Jayden Hanna went 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored. He had a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning and scored a run. Derron Davis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI on the night. Cam Russ had two hits tonight with two RBIs.

The Rogues and Heat face off tomorrow night at Harry and David Field in Medford for game two at 6:35pm.
