MEDFORD, Ore. – Returning Rogues Connor Lowrie and Johnny DeLaCruz led the charge as Medford (3-0) completed a series sweep against Yuba City (0-3) by topping the Bears 16-5 on Thursday night.

Lowrie (Blackhawk JC) and DeLaCruz (UL-Monroe) went a combined 6-10 at the plate with 7 RBI and 4 runs. Lowrie had a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning which ultimately put the Rogues on top for good.

DeLaCruz led an eighth inning offensive explosion by hitting a one-out single. Jake Hellweg (Bethune Cookman) followed up with a walk. Jayden Hanna (Lane CC) hit a two-RBI double and would later come around and score. Lowrie had another two-RBI single in his final at-bat to help cap a six-run inning for the Rogues.

“(Lowrie) He was pretty upset with his day actually until he got that last hit, that’s just him,” said Rogues Manager Josh Hogan. “He sets high standards and he expects a lot out of himself”

Chris Painter (Tennessee Wesleyan) threw six innings to earn his first win of the season. Painter surrendered seven walks, allowing four earned runs early but settled in for his final three innings.

Hellweg, Dante Gutierrez (San Diego), Jake Gozzo (Orange Coast), Taylor Frost (Southern Idaho) and Scotty Wright (Colorado Christian) all had one hit apiece for the Rogues.
