Medford and Marysville Split Series

Medford, Oregon - The Medford Rogues and Marysville Gold Sox faced off in a close game two but the Rogues were unable to hold on for the win. The Rogues were the first to strike but with a 4-run eighth inning by the Gold Sox, the Rogues fell 5-2 to the Gold Sox. The Rogues record now sits at 5-2 and the Gold Sox at 9-2.

Scoring for the Rogues started early in the third inning after Cam Russ reached base on a lead-off triple. He was brought in by an RBI singly by Chad Bell. The Rogues led 1-0 until the Gold Sox tied things up in the sixth with an RBI by Dalton DeVries. Medford bats went quiet while Marysville heated up in the eighth inning. Four runs crossed the plate off of 3 hits. After the Gold Sox jumped ahead 5-2 and were able to hold on for the game two win.

Cam Russ went 3-for-3 at the plate with 1 run, improving his batting average to .429. Ian Nowack also was strong at the plate batting 2-for-4 improving his batting average to .455. Chad Bell was responsible for both RBIs, with a 1-for-3 night at the plate.

Parker Kelly earned his first start for the Rogues and was strong through his six innings of work. Kelly threw four strikeouts, gave up 1 run on 6 hits and walked one batter. Kelly’s ERA now sits at 1.50. C.J. Eytel came in for relief in the seventh inning and gave up no hits, no runs and no walks. Jamie Flynn pitched for 2/3 of the 8th inning and gave up 3 runs on three hits, walked two batters. Flynn struck out two batters and now has an ERA of 11.57. Dylan Pearce finished the game walking one and struck out one with a 4.15 ERA.

The Rogues and Gold Sox face off again tomorrow night at 6:35pm with the series on the line. Tomorrow, Rogue Credit Union members get in free by showing their RCU debit or credit card at the box office.
