Rogues Take Down Stealth For Game One

Under sunny skies and with country tunes playing, the Medford Rogues beat the Sacramento Stealth in a come from behind win in the bottom of the eighth inning, 5-4. The Rogues now have a 10-5 overall record and the Stealth fall to 2-9 on the season. 

The Rogues sent DJ Wilson to the mound in his fourth start of the summer. Wilson pitched 7 innings, gave up 4 runs on 10 hits and struck out one and walked one batter. Wilson’s ERA now sits at 3.54. Dylan Pierce pitched the final two innings for the Rogues and gave up no hits and no runs. He struck out four batters and earned the win now with a 2.25 ERA. 

At the plate, Connor McNally went 1-for-4 but scored two runs and had an RBI double with his one hit. His average is now at .239. Spencer Steer went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and now has a healthy .450 average. Cam Russ reached base twice, going two-for-four, furthering improving his batting average to .396.

The Stealth struck first in the top of the first inning with a run, after Jorge Perez-Bonilla was hit by a pitch. The Stealth plated three runs in the fourth inning and maintained a 4-0 lead until the sixth. The Rogues plated two runs, one off an RBI double by Connor McNally and the other off an RBI by Spencer Steer. The Rogues took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, taking advantage of three walks in the inning and held on to beat the Stealth, 5-4.

The Rogues and Stealth meet tomorrow night at Harry and David Field for game two of the series at 6:35pm for Paint the Park Pink. The players will be wearing special edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game with the proceeds going to the Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center.
