Rogues Take Game One Over Gold Sox

On another sunny day in Southern Oregon, the Medford Rogues took down the Marysville Gold Sox in game one, 3-2. The Rogues are now tied with the Gold Sox for the top spot in the Great West League with a 15-6 and Gold Sox fall to 17-8. 

The Rogues were first to strike with a run in the third. Ian Nowak scored off an RBI single by Johnny DeLaCruz. The Gold Sox tied the game in the fifth inning with a solo homerun by Austin Call. Marysville extended their lead in the sixth off an RBI single by Dalton DeVries. Trailing 2-1, the Rogues tied the ballgame in the bottom of the seventh. Pinch hitter, Connor Lowrie hit a double, reaching base and then was brought in with an RBI single by Brock Pradere. The Rogues jumped ahead to a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning after Johnny DeLaCruz was brought home in a bases loaded situation when Connor Lowrie was hit by a pitch. The Rogue held on to the 3-2 lead into the ninth by strong pitching by Parker Kelly, finishing the game. 

DJ Wilson on the mound for the Rogues was stellar through his eight innings. He gave up one earned run off of 10 hits. He struck out 5 and walked one batter. Wilson now has an ERA of 3.53. Parker Kelly got the save in the ninth inning, giving up one hit and striking out two. Kelly’s ERA now sits at 4.91. 

At the plate, Johnny DeLaCruz went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. DeLaCruz’s batting average now sits at .286. David Bellamy was also strong at the plate and on the basepath. He went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a batting average of .254. Additionally, Brock Pradere went 2-for-4 with an RBI improving his batting average to .302. 

The Rogues and Gold Sox face off again tomorrow night in Marysville at 7:05pm for game two and the number one spot in the Great West League.
