Rogues Now Hold Number One Spot in GWL

Marysville, California - The Medford Rogues and the Marysville Gold Sox met at Caluso Casino Stadium in Marysville for game two of the three game series. Medford got off to an early start and despite a late inning come back by the Gold Sox, the Rogues were able to hold on to a 7-6 win. This puts the Rogues in the number one spot in the Great West League.

The Rogues and Gold Sox were tied after the first inning, 1-1 and then again after the third 2-2. Rogues scoring broke open in the middle innings with Derron Davis hitting a 2-run single. Then in the seventh, Connor Lowrie smacked a 2-run home run over the left field fence in the top of the sixth inning. The Gold Sox plated two runs in the seventh inning and two runs in the eighth but pitcher Parker Kelly kept anymore runs for scoring and the Gold Sox left the bases loaded. The Rogues held on to clinch the number one spot in the Great West League with the close 7-6 win.

At the plate, Connor Lowrie went 3-for-4 with a 2-run home run and an RBI double. Derron Davis went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two singles. Spencer Steer also had an RBI going 2-for-5.

On the mound, Kade Wagner earned his fourth start of the season. Through his seven innings of work, Wagner gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out three and did not give up a walk. Tristan Duncan came in and pitched ⅓ of an inning striking out 1, walking 1 and giving up two runs. Parker Kelly finished the game pitching the final 1 ⅔ innings walking three batters and did not give up a run.

The Rogues go for the sweep tomorrow night at Calusa Casino in game three at 6:05pm.
