MEDFORD, Ore. – The Medford Rogues (25-8) fell to Top Speed Baseball (26-4) 12-2 on Friday night at Harry & David Field.

The top two teams in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League and two of the top 25 summer collegiate baseball teams in America faced off at Harry & David Field for the first time this season.

In the last meeting between the two teams, the Rogues split the doubleheader with the Speedos and had a 2-1 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of the Rubber Match. Phoenix, OR native Aaron Hutchinson (Campellsville University) pitch 8.2 innings of one run baseball but allowed the game tying home run with two outs in the ninth. Top Speed would hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning.

Top Speed had runners on second and third with nobody out in the top of the second inning. Speedos third baseman Cameron Castaneda hit a ground ball to Rogues shortstop Caleb Broughton (Bucknell University). Broughton tagged the Speedos runner at second base before firing to first for the 6-3 double play to help the Rogues get out of a jam.

The Rogues tied the game in the second inning when catcher Ryan Gamboa (Academy of Art University) singled home Maxx Mahon (Vanguard University), who got hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.

Two big innings helped Top Speed put a fair amount of distance between themselves and the Medford Rogues. Top Speed scored five runs in the third and four more in the fifth.

Brice Foster (Menlo College) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning, his first of the year.
