Medford Splits Series with Portland

Medford, Oregon - After a couple of rainy days in Medford, the Rogues and the Pickles faced off under sunny and blue skies at Harry and David Field. The Rogues were able to take game four, 5-2 after an early start in the first inning. Medford’s record now sits at 19-11 overall and the Pickles fall to 16-14.

Scoring for the Rogues started early with a four-run first inning. Spencer Steer scored the first run of the game off an RBI single by Johnny DeLaCruz. Connor Lowrie scored on a wild pitch, extending the Rogues lead to 2-0 over the Pickles. Cam Russ brought in DeLaCruz and Billy Fredrick with a 2-run single for a 4-0 lead over the Pickles after the first inning. Portland plated a run in the fourth and another in the eighth but Medford scored again in the bottom of the eighth after Derron Davis reached on a lead-off single. Davis was brought in with a sacrifice fly by Connor Lowrie. Medford held on to take game four, 5-2.

Reece Green earned the win for the Rogues, going 7 innings and giving up 1 run on 3 hits. He struck out 3 batters and walked 4, now with .97 ERA. C.J. Eytel came in relief for Green in the eighth inning, giving up 1 run off of two hits. Connor Lowrie pitched 1/3 in the ninth but loaded the bases. Trenton Stoltz recorded the final two outs with a strikeout to end the game. 

At the plate, Connor Lowrie went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, improving his batting average to .274. Cam Russ went 1-for-3 with a 2-run single in the first inning, is now batting .287. Johnny DeLaCruz reached on an RBI single, run scored and a stolen base, improving his batting average to .250.

The Rogues take on the Sacramento Stealth tomorrow night at Harry and David Field for the opening game of the next 3-game series. First pitch is at 6:35pm and it is also Fred Meyer Family Fun Sunday with $44 vouchers available at the Grants Pass and Medford locations. $44 includes 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 drinks and 4 souvenir baseballs.
