Medford Sweeps Sacramento

The Medford Rogues and Sacramento Stealth faced off in game three at Harry and David Field on Tuesday night. Scoreless until the fourth inning, scoring broke open and the Rogues were able to sweep the Stealth with a 10-2 win. The Rogues now sit atop the Great West League with a 22-11 record and Sacramento falls to 4-21. 

Scoring by the Rogues was held to the middle innings. Two runs crossed the plate in the fourth after Lowrie had an RBI scoring the first run and then he was also able to score. Leading 2-0 in the fifth, Spencer Steer drove home two runs with a 2-run single. Steer was able to score when Billy Fredrick hit an RBI single to right-field, extending the Rogues’ lead to 5-0. Five more runs crossed the plate in the sixth, with RBIs by Johnny DeLaCruz, Lowrie, Fredrick and Stutzman. Leading 10-0 into the ninth, Nolan Boggini sent a 2-run homerun over the left-field fence to get the Stealth on board, 10-2 for the final score. 

C.J. Eytel earned his second start of the summer and went 7 scoreless innings for Medford. He gave up just 2 hits, struckout 2 batters and walked 1. Eytel cut his ERA almost in half, now with a strong 2.95 ERA. Bryon Foust came in relief to pitch the eighth inning and walked 1 batter, but no runs and no hits. Will Martel finished the game in the ninth with 2 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk. 

At the plate, Rogues batting was strong with six Rogues players having multi-hit nights. Connor McNally, Delacruz, Steer, Fredrick, Stutzman and Pradere all had mutliple hits throughout the game for the Rogues. 

The Rogues next face the Lodi Crushers on Friday night at 6:35pm. On Saturday night, it is Christmas in July with the players wearing special edition, ugly Christmas sweater jerseys that will be auctioned off during the night with the proceeds benefiting ACCESS.
