Santa Brings Rogues Early Christmas Present

Sporting special edition ugly Christmas sweaters and with Santa in from the North Pole, the Rogues took game two from the visitng Lodi Crushers, 8-1. The Rogues remain on the nice list, holding onto the #1 spot in the Great West League, with a 24-11 record and the Crushers fall to 14-2; it is unclear at this point whether the Crushers will be on the naughty or nice list this year.

The Rogues scoring started in the second inning off an RBI by Connor McNally. Leading 1-0, the Rogues plated three runs in the third with RBIs by Billy Fredrick, Johnny Delacruz and Connor Lowrie extending Medford’s lead 4-0. The bats were hot again in the seventh with four more runs being scored by the Rogues. Derron Davis reached on a leadoff double and then was joined on the basepath by Brock Pradere. Cam Russ reached on an RBI single, bringing in Davis and moving Pradere to third. Russ and Pradere then completed a double steal, Pradere stealing home, his third time this summer. Delacruz brought in Russ off an RBI double and then scored the 8th run of the game for the Rogues off another Lodi error.

Kade Wagner earned his seventh start of the summer for the Rogues. Wagner went 8 innings, gave up 1 run on 6 hits, and struck out 10 batters. Wagner’s ERA now sits at a healthy 1.80. Chris Painter pitched the ninth inning, and did not give up a run or hit, now with a 2.53 ERA.

At the plate, Billy Fredrick went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Fredrick’s batting average now is at .324. Connor Lowrie went 1-for-2 with an RBI, improving his batting average to .244. Cam Russ was also strong at the plate going 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a .295 batting average.

The Rogues and Crushers face off again tomorrow night at 6:35pm at Harry and David Field for game three.
