The Medford Rogues are pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn Birch to the role of acting general manager for the Medford Rogues effectively immediately.

Previously in a management role for the Rogues since April 2015, Birch has worked in professional sports for six years in baseball, hockey, and lacrosse. She has worked for the Victoria Seals, an independent baseball team in the Golden Baseball League, as well as the Victoria Salmon Kings, an ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. She was recruited by the Victoria Shamrocks, a professional lacrosse team, to assist in their rebrand and direct the Mann Cup national championship.

“Carolyn has a proven background in sales, marketing and in baseball, and she is familiar with Rogue Nation and what is required to lead the organization. It was important to find a person that knows the market and our business, she was a natural fit, she brings a strong passion, great ideas and what it takes to build relationships with the community,” says CSH International [BC1] President, Gary Gelinas.

In 2013, Birch assisted in starting the West Coast League’s Victoria Harbourcats as the Vice President of Game Day Operations. In their inaugural season, the team hosted the All-Star Game and set multiple attendance records. Prior to moving to Medford, Birch worked for Panorama Recreation Centre in their marketing department and was also part of the local organizing committee for 2015 Kraft Hockeyville competition. She was responsible for strategizing and executing social media for the campaign. Out of more than 1,200 entries across Canada, Panorama Recreation Centre clinched the grand prize with 1.3 million votes winning $100,000 and the opportunity to host an NHL game.

Birch honed and diversified her marketing skills through three years at a top-rated medium market radio station as promotions and community relations director; earning two Canadian Music Week awards. Birch has managed more than 100 high profile events and fundraisers including producing a large scale concert with K’naan as the headliner, played a pivotal role in two major corporate rebrands, led the Media Relations department at a medium sized arena, and has created more than 2,000 promotions and contests. She has also directed more than 250 sporting events including the WHL Super Series, National Women’s Hockey.
