Rogues Sweep Gold Sox

The Medford Rogues traveled to Marysville, California to take on the Gold Sox at Calusa Casino Stadium in fron of 760 fans. The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when Marysville pulled ahead by 2 but the Rogues tied the ballgame in the eighth and took the lead in the ninth for a 3-2 win over the #2 team in the Great West League. The Rogues hold on to the #1 spot in the GWL with a 28-11 record and extend the franchise best win streak to 10 straight wins.

With outstanding pitching with the Rogues’ C.J. Eytel and Gold Sox’s Jack Cushing, bats were quiet until the seventh inning when Marysville plated two runs in the seventh. The Rogues answered in the eighth off a 2-run double by Spencer Steer tying the ballgame at 2. Parker Kelly knocked in the winning run of the game in the ninth with an RBI single bringing in Connor Lowrie. Colton Westfall then retired the Gold Sox in order in the bottom of the ninth and earned their 10th win in a row, with a 3-2 win over Marysville.

C.J. Eytel earned his third start of the summer for the Rogues, and went 6.1 innings and gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He struck out three and walked one and now has a 2.81 ERA. Colton Westfall earned the win for Medford through his 2.2 innings pitched and did not give up a run on just two hits. He struck out three and maintains his 0.00 ERA.

At the plate, Spencer Steer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. He now has a team best .340 batting average. Johnny Delacruz went 1-for-4 and improved his batting average to .274. Parker Kelly had the fourth hit of the ninth in the ninth inning and now bats .227.

The Rogues next face the Chico Heat at Nettleton Stadium in Chico Friday night at 7:05pm.
