Rogues Beat Pickles in Game Two

Portland, Oregon - The Medford Rogues traveled to Portland to take on the Portland Pickles for game two of the three game series. Medford took game one last night, 7-1 and was able to take the series tonight with a 5-4 victory. The Rogues go for the sweep tomorrow night at Walker Stadium in Portland at 7:05pm.

The Pickles were first to strike in the first inning and led 1-0 until the Rogues were able to plate 2 runs in the second inning. Portland tied the ballgame in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single by Gabe Matthews. The game remained tied until the sixth inning when the Rogues scored three more runs. Johnny Delacruz scored off a Connor Lowrie single. Lowrie then scored off a single by Connor McNally and then Brock Pradere brought in McNally with an RBI single of his own. The Pickles loaded the bases in the eighth and had runners in scoring position in the ninth but were unable to top the Rogues and Medford held on to the 5-4 win.

At the plate, Connor Lowrie went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the sixth inning. Lowrie improves his batting average to .254 for the season. Connor McNally was also strong at the plate going 2-for-3, scoring 2 runs. McNally now has a .241 batting average.

On the mound, C.J. Eytel earned the win for Medford. Eytel went 6 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 3 batters and finishes with a 3.03 ERA. Parker Kelly came in relief, pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 1 run on 2 hits and walked one batter. Colton Westfall finished the game for the Rogues and earned the save, and gave up just 1 hit in 1.1 innings and struck out one batter.

The Rogues and Pickles meet for the series conclusion tomorrow night as the Rogues go for the sweep at Walker Stadium at 7:05pm.
