Kentfield, Ca. – The Medford Rogues defeated the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox 1-0 on Thursday afternoon at the College of Marin.

Grants Pass native Chris D’Amico (Presentation College) and Brice Foster combined to shutout the Gold Sox to advance to the Championship Series.

Gold Sox right fielder Brandon Motherall tripled with two outs in the top of the second inning. The next pitch got by Rogues catcher Ryan Gamboa and Motherall took off for home. Gamboa tracked it down and fired to D’Amico covering the plate to tag out Motherall.

Turner Olson (Chico State) made an all-out diving catch on a ball struck to right center with runners on base in the top of the third inning.

Both teams played stellar defense as the game went scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. Gamboa and Brice Foster (Menlo College) both singled to bring up Omar Ortiz (Vanguard University). He muscled a ball into left center field to score Gamboa, which ended up being the lone run of the game.

D’Amico got the leadoff batter out in the top of the ninth inning but then gave up a 1-out single to Billy Ralston. With the Gold Sox best hitter, Tyler Carpenter, at the plate, coach Sean Gallagher pulled D’Amico in a 1-2 count to bring in Foster. Foster got Carpenter to ground out up the middle for a game-ending double play.

D’Amico picks up his franchise record ninth win of the season and has now pitched the most innings in a season in franchise history.

The Rogues have now won a franchise record 12 games in a row.
