Rogues Beat Stealth

Medford, Oregon - The Medford Rogues and Sacramento Stealth met at Harry and David Field for the opening game fo the series in front of a crowd of 1,583. The Rogues got to scoring early in the first inning and led 11-2 until the ninth inning. The Stealth plated 6 runs in the ninth, 4 off a grand slam, but Medford held on to the 11-8 victory. The Rogues are now 34-12 on the season and sit atop the Great West League, 7.5 games ahead of the number two Chico Heat.

The Rogues scoring started in the first inning off an RBI single by Spencer Steer bringing in Connor McNally who reached on a triple. Steer scored then off an RBI single by Connor Lowrie. The Stealth plated two runs in the fourth inning to tie the ballgame at 2-runs each. Medford then broke the scoring wide open with a 4-run fourth inning. Connor McNally reached on a 2-run single and then Steer brought in two more runs off a double. Leading 6-2 in the sixth, Steer had his fourth RBI of the night off another double. Medford scored again in the seventh off an RBI double by Parker Kelly and then Jaden Hanna brought in another run. Then leading 9-2 in the ninth, Johnny Delacruz hit his second home run of the season, a 2-run shot over the left field fence bringing in Steer.

Even though they were trailing 11-2 heading into the ninth, the Sacramento Stealth scored 6 runs, 4 of which were off a grand slam by Dylan Wright. Colton Westfall earns the save after coming in relief with the bases loaded and struck out three to end the game with a final, 11-8 score.

Tristain Duncan had his first start of the summer and went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 3 and walked 2. Dylan Pearce pitched 2 innings and gave up just 1 hit and no runs and struck out 4. Colton Westfall earned the save, striking out the final 3 batters and giving up just a 1 hit.

The Medford Rogues and Sacramento Stealth face off again tomorrow night at 6:35pm. It is jersey night and all fans that wear their favorite sports team or university’s jersey will receive a $5 bleacher ticket.
