Rogues Fall to Heat in Game One

Medford, Oregon - The Medford Rogues and Chico Heat met for game one at Harry and David Field with playoff implications on the line for the Heat. The Heat were first to strike in the fourth inning but the Rogues were unable to keep up as Chico beat Medford, 10-3. With the win, the Heat clinch the number two spot in the GWL and will face Medford in the playoffs.

The Chico Heat scored two runs in the fourth and Medford tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Robby Teel hit a two-run triple down the first base line to tie the game at 2-runs each. Medford’s other run came in the bottom of the seventh inning off a sacrifice fly by Jayden Hanna. Chico had a 4-run seventh inning and a 2-run ninth to take game one, 10-3.

Dylan Pearce got the start for the Rogues and went 5 innings, gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out four. He walked 2 batters and now has a 2.31 ERA. Boone Casarez pitched the following 2 innings and gave up 6 runs on 6 hits and has a 10.80 ERA. Derron Davis pitched the eighth inning and did not give up a hit or a run, maintaining his 0.00 ERA. Connor Lowrie finished the ninth and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits with a 6.35 ERA.

At the plate, Derron Davis went 3-for-4 improving his batting average to .284. Robby Teel went 2-for-2 with a 2-run triple, putting his batting average at .220. Jayden Hanna went 1-for-3 with an RBI also and now has a healthy .286 average.

The Medford Rogues and Chico Heat face off again tomorrow night at 6:35pm at Harry and David Field for game two.
