Rogues Drop Game 3 to Chico

The Medford Rogues and Chico Heat met at Nettleton Stadium in game three in Chico and it was another pitching match between the top two teams in the Great West League. It was a scoreless game until the seventh inning when the Heat opened scoring with a two-run homerun. The Rogues plated a run in the ninth but left the bases loaded and fell 2-1 to the Heat.

It was a pitching match between the Rogues and Heat with both pitchers giving up just 7 combined hits through the first 7 innings. Then in the bottom of the seventh, Cameron Olson sent a 2-run shot over the right field fence to put the Heat on top, 2-0. In the ninth inning, the Rogues loaded the bases and Johnny Delacruz was able to bat in Cam Russ for the Rogues’ first run of the night. Medford was unable to score anymore runs and fell 2-1.
DJ Wilson earned his 8th start of the summer and went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 3 batters and now has a 2.62. CJ Eytel pitched one inning in relief and gave up no runs on just 1 hit and struck out 1 now with a 2.70 ERA. Colton Westfall finished the game for Medford and did not give up a hit or run and struck out 1 batter, maintaining his 0.00 ERA.

At the plate, Johnny Delacruz went 2-for-4 with a double, improving his batting average to .264. Derron Davis also had a strong night going 2-for-5, improving his batting average to .284. Cam Russ went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a .288 average.
