Medford forced a rubber game to keep postseason hopes alive

Arcata, CA — The Medford Rogues keep their postseason hopes alive with a 10-5 victory against the Humboldt Crabs. Rogues set the tone early on, putting up a four-spot in the first inning. In the inning, the Rogues plated four runs on one hit. Rogues batters got on base via the walk four times. The Crabs countered in the first inning with a three-spot in the frame from a three-run bomb from Jamie Mullin. Medford quickly answered back with a run in the second from an RBI single from Logan Macy. It was a 5-3 lead for the Rogues. The Crabs answered back with a run in the third inning on an RBI double from Jason Arriola. It was the same score until the sixth inning, when the Rogues answered with an RBI double from Logan Macy. The Crabs answered back with a run across in the sixth inning. Medford erupted for a three-spot in the seventh inning. The highlight of the inning was a two-run blast from Evan Saito. That was Saito’s first home run of the season. Rogues’ pitching staff kept the Crabs in check. Herman Luna got the start, going five innings and striking out two batters. Wyatt Green and Josh Rodriguez saw time out of the pen in the game. Rogues have to win to head to the playoffs tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. Box Score, click here
