Medford opens 4-game series with Seattle Cheney Studs on Friday after Thursday rain postponement
For all the offseason talk of a potential new ballpark and minor league baseball team hoping to wedge its way into town, the Medford Rogues have bided their time, awaiting their 14th collegiate wood-bat summer baseball season.
That wait continued through Thursday night due to a postponement due to rain, but expects to be broken Friday as Medford opens a four-game series against the Seattle Cheney Studs Click Here for Roster with a doubleheader starting at 5:05 p.m. at Harry & David Field. Click Here for tickets.
“We’re going to continue to put on the best show that we can, and not really listen to what’s going on around us, and focus more on what we can control,” said Rogues co-owner and president Dave May of ongoing discussions between the City of Medford and the Eugene Emeralds. “I’ve always been a person of control what you can control, and kind of leave any outside noise or anything to itself, and we’ll figure it out.”
“As far as what the future may hold, with other other things potentially coming to Southern Oregon, we’ll weigh in and comment on those things when it’s appropriate to do so,” he added. “But right now we’re so focused on putting on a good 39-game home schedule for the fans that we do have that want to check us out, and provide a really cool experience for these college athletes who dedicate their summer to us.”
Single-game ticket pricing on regular game nights range from $10 (general admission bleachers) to $13 (strike zone seating), with concessions prices also remaining the same from one year ago.
“We’re doing everything to be able to make this work and keep it family affordable,” said May. “There’s certain nights of the week that it’s literally free to come out and watch baseball — and high-level collegiate baseball — and there’s nights of the week where it’s half-price tickets or it’s half-price hot dogs, with a lot of different things going on at the ballpark with our promotions and fireworks nights.”
“We’re just really, really excited to be able to provide that for the community,” he added, “and hopefully we will be able to continue to do that for years to come, but we’ll see what that looks like as we move forward.”
