Arcata, CA – The Medford Rogues drop game one of the weekend series against the Humboldt Crabs 12-5 on Friday night. The Rogues, in the first inning, had runners at first and second but could not capitalize. The Crabs struck first in the bottom of the inning, scoring two times on an RBI single from Kawana Soares and an RBI triple from Adam Enyart. Humboldt tacked on three more runs in the second inning and a run across in the third inning. Medford got the offense moving in the fifth inning, putting up a three-spot in the frame. One of the runs came across on an RBI single from Kian Sanchez. The Rogues answered with another run in the sixth inning when Quinton Olson scored on a ball thrown into the outfield from Crabs catcher Kawana Soares. Crabs pushed four more runs across in the sixth inning. The Rogues pitching staff struggled last night. Forest Zelmer got the start, going 4.2 innings but gave up 11 hits and seven runs. Matty Ibrahim Jr, Lorenzo Lew, and Ethan Swensen saw time out of the pen. The season is on the line Saturday for the Rogues. If the Rogues lose, they are eliminated from the postseason. If the Lincoln Potters lose as well Saturday night, the Rogues are still in the hunt.
