Rogues Walk It Off in 10: Neugebauer’s Clutch Hit Seals 5-4 Fourth of July Victory

Game summary: The Medford Rogues defeated the Cal State Peloteros 5-4 in a 10-inning, Fourth of July walk-off victory at Harry and David Field, driven by Jaden Neugebauer’s clutch tenth-inning single. Following strong pitching from Caleb Randolph, the team moves to Tuesday’s matchup against the Lincoln Potters.

The Medford Rogues baseball team celebrate the Fourth of July with a walk off win against the Cal State Peloteros 5-4 on Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 2,041. The sold out crowd was the largest in Pacific Empire League and Rogues history. The Cal State Peloteros who struck first in the third inning by putting up a three spot in the frame. The Rogues answered back with an RBI single, driving in Will Salihar. The Peloteros answered back with a run in the fourth inning. Medford did not score again until the seventh inning. Rogues tacked on a run on a sac fly from Chanz Flores. Flores drove in Jackson Rosenthal from third. Rogues tied up the game to force extras on a RBI single from Kian Sanchez in the ninth inning. In extra-inning games, the designated runner is put on at second base for both teams. In the top of the tenth, Caleb Randolph recorded three outs with striking out the Peloteros and was the winning pitcher. In the home half of the tenth, Jackson Rosenthal got aboard with an infield single. Chanz Flores was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With no outs, Jaden Neugebauer fought off pitches and with 2 strikes on him, hit a single past the infield. Neugebauer’s hit drove in Diego Grabiel — who was the designated runner and pinch runner — in the tenth inning to win it for the Rogues. The Rogues will be back in Pacific Empire League play against the Lincoln Potters on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. at Harry and David Field in Southern Oregon. Tuesday’s game is free general admission.
