After two days off, the Rogues looked well rested; they put up ten in the first two innings against the semi-pro team from northern California. The Rogues broke the franchise record for most doubles in a game tonight with eight, eclipsing the old record (seven doubles) they set just five days ago against the Reno Rams. Starting pitcher B.J. Wyche (Presentation College) pitched five innings of scoreless baseball and struck out three to pick up the win. Johnny Radomskiy (Presentation College) hit his first home run of the year, a two run blast over the left field wall in the eighth inning. The Rogues hosted American Sign Language (ASL) culture night at Harry & David Field tonight, the first of its kind. This event came about as an idea from Corey McArthur, Rogues Communications and Digital Marketing Coordinator, who is what ASL culture refers to as a ‘CODA’ (Child of Deaf Adult). ASL Professor at Southern Oregon University, Steve Wasserman, helped to bring the ASL/Deaf community to Harry & David Field and build a connection with the Medford Rogues and the Rogue Valley. During the game, two interpreters translated all the PA reads for any fans who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing fans that understand Sign Language. The national anthem was performed in Sign Language by Samantha Castaneda, Aubrey Merrill, and Jocelyn Benton. Fans were treated to ASL/Deaf culture fun facts and anecdotes throughout the game. Crater High School’s Deaf Academic Bowl team raised money with a 50/50 raffle during the game. For the full box score: CLICK HERE |
